It's hard to claim a tsunami with so little participation...but it IS a strategy to make sure as many as possible are turned off.

43 percent down here...despite a really nice day in most of the state: Sunny, mild...sigh.
I dunno--maybe some of the no shows were busy working...since, if you're lucky enough to have a job in a right to work (for less) state, you can be sure they'll expect you to put in long hours...
As for the rest of the no shows...what the hell can you do?
Iowa was number 6 down the list of higher turnouts at a mere 50%. And we didn't even have a marijuana referendum on the ballot.The nut jobs won fair and square. With Steve King and Joni Ernst in Washington we may have just passed Texas in the race to Teh Crazy.
In all of those states, there have been longstanding efforts to prevent the "wrong" people from voting, so turnout definitely would have been somewhat higher were that not the case.
Disenfranchisement of minorities has been a perennial effort by Republicans, and that can't be discounted.
The irony, of course, is that these are the same people, every goddamned election, who rant and rave about "freedom." Yeah, right. Freedom for Fox viewers.

Reliable sources inform us that the Democ-rats won the stay-at-home voters by a massive landslide.
Boohoo, cry me a river. If you don't vote, it doesn't count.
