Misadministration admits cannot win hearts and minds

The right-wing's idol-in-chief Reagan once quoting a famous poem contended that America was a City on a Hill. The so-called great communicator got away with subverting the constitution because he thought that he was fighting a holy war against communism so perhaps I should not be surprised with the current state of affairs. Bush deludedly believes that he is fighting a holy war against Terrorism. The difference is that while the Gipper clothed himself in the religious rhetoric, he was not a true believer. Well, at least not in the pedantic extreme born again sense.

And what have we become now? What kind of image have we created that will last the ages?

We bully our neighbors and supposed friends. We ignore any international treaties at whim because we don't like them. We avoid international agreements and conventions because they might damage business or limit our ability to "fight" terrorism. We go to war on false premises and lies. We say one thing and then do another time and again with this current misadministration.

We have created enemies where there was none. Furthermore we continue to antagonize the world with a mean-spirited cowboy international policy.

This chart clearly demonstrates the consequences of this horrible policy (from Ed Stephan, you can see a more readable version, here

And now we admit that we cannot even win what was supposedly the major objective in Iraq -- transforming the middle east.

Time and time again now Mr. Preznit has demonstrated a callous disregard for our most cherished principles. The Right and Nut-wing attacked Clinton for far far far less. It is time that we begin creating a coordinated move for the impeachment of George W. Bush. History will judge as harshly for anything else.
