Qualifications for Attorney General Not Necessarily Relevant

Look, qualifications really aren't that relevant to the job of Attorney General of the You-Nita States of 'Murica. Witness the current occupant of the office. Plainly not qualified. Anyone remeber that idiot Ed Meese? But "Judge" Gonzalez proved today through his obfuscation and nonsense answers what this charade is really about: loyalty.

I'm working on some reflections regarding Gonzalez's history regarding clemency appeals while he shoveled shit for Bush in Texas so I won't go into it here except to say this news on the torture memo would not have surprised us if we had known the patterns of the relationship on similar issues (the death penalty for example) from the past.

I admire Gonzalez for pulling himself up, getting a world-class education, and making it to the pinnacle of the profession with almost nothing by way of family financial support (no doubt there were strong family bonds and emotional support). What made Gonzalez a candidate for this post, more than anything, was his undying loyalty to a person who did nothing is his life worth mentioning except trade on and capitalize on his family name and fortune. Gonzalez is a male version of Karen Hughes with a law degree.

He may have a greater intellect than Hughes, but above all, he is Bush's kept lawyer. Can we expect Gonzalez to represent America and all its citizens? Can he put aside loyalty where necessary? Valerie Plame anyone? Gonzalez has never been anything but a cleaner for Bush. Like all the people around our sappy leader it's about spoiling the little rich teenager who gets everything he wants. Don't make him work too long, let him get plenty of sleep and exercise. Take about four out of every ten days as vacation, tell him how great he is several times a day, remind him that he is God's President, and above all that he has the corner on what Jesus would do as preznit and you've got a job for life.

It is enough to make me sick.
