M-104

I've gotten the Sombrero Galaxy in on the old 8 inch (and no JimmyJeff involved) and it does live up to its name. Even to a ground based observer in a modest telescope it has this shape (but not nearly this resolution). You can find it, like many galaxys in the Constellation Virgo, appearing in the eastern sky after sunset (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).

But by using an image from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Spitzer Space Telescope NASA issued this incredible picture of one of the great images in the night sky.

WOW.
