Times Like These...

Are not ideal for exercising one's cynical side but I can't help it. I'll run the risk of having us labelled unpatriotic and state for the record the usual blah blah blah we shall prevail, they shall lose has lost its charm.

Blair, flanked by fellow G-8 leaders, including President Bush, said: "We shall prevail and they shall not."

Earlier, a shaken Blair said, "Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilized nations throughout the world."

Really, can't Blair do better than that?

Update:

File under this puts it in perspective...I guess he did better than the usually colloquial Bush.

"I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here in London," Bush told reporters from a summit of world leaders here. Bush said he urged caution "as our folks start heading to work."

He really does work hard at being only half a moron.

Update #2:

He really doesn't work much speak in terms that are, well, sublime.

"We will not yield to these people," Bush said. "We will not yield to terrorists. We will them find them. We will bring them to justice. At the same time, we will spread an ideology of hope and compassion that will overwhelm their ideology of hate."

Shall we call it the "Extraordinary Rendition Ideology of Hope" or the "Abu Ghraib Ideology of Hope"?
