I'm not in the same league as Brother DeDurkheim in my music reviews (he is into Marxist deconstruction of pop culture after all) but I do know what I like, and I gotta say I really like the new two disc set from the Fountains of Wayne called Out-of-State Plates.
There cannot be a band out there doing better un-poppy pop than these guys (though NRBQ has been doing it for a LONG time and pretty damn well I must say). What is amazing about the new disc from Fountains is that this is a compilation of songs that didn't make it onto main releases here in the states, and there are some real gems there.
