Religious Right Control Freaks

Ok, I am at my wits end with these religious fanatics! No, really I do not know if I can withstand the assault on rational thought from these guys much more.

I think it is high -- far past high time -- that we acknowledge that they want to control thought, belief, value, and practice. They want to control everything that we think and do. And that is not very democratic at all. Let's pause and think about this for a moment.

These folks on the extreme end of the religious right in the United States -- ok, someone is bound to ask the question: Are they really the extreme? Well, some of them are willing to kill or harbor people who kill and that strikes me as extreme. Remember Mr. Rudolph? Killing to stop killing? What the... Anyway, it does contradict that whole "culture of life" bumper sticker mentality, eh?

But for the sake of argument let's assume that they are on the far right fringes... even if it is a lovely little delusion that helps us sleep at night... they desire control, control, and more control. Think about what they want. They want to limit the movies we can see, the books we can read in or out of high school, the television that we watch, where companies like... I don't know, say the Ford Motor Company... can advertize. Add all of this together and what we have is a cultural movement that is totalitarian. Now while this is not news to the readers of this site, the fact that we are not treating them what they are by calling them out as totalitarian control freaks is the big problem.

We must begin to call these people what they are and what they represent. We must call their movement what it is, and let's hold politicians accountable who pander to these right wing religious wing nut control freaks.
