Gone, but sadly, probably mission accomplished

Zarqawi appears to be dead, which is certainly not bad news. Emmanuel Goldstein wasn't much more than an overhyped goon.

Tom over at Atrios pointed out the psyop nature of Zarqawi, and that's certainly true:

"The Zarqawi PSYOP program is the most successful information campaign to date." -- Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, in an internal 2004 memo praising the propaganda campaign to hype the threat of Iraq's "terrorist mastermind" Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

So the death, much as it will be hyped (again), won't change much. The clusterfuck will continue and someone new will be the boogeyman. Let's see, Uday & Quesay that didn't help; Saddam out of hidey hole, that didn't help; Zarqawi...

Where's Osama by the way?
