Not bringing things to Light

There have been more than a few excellent and pithy observations from the keyboard of Digby over the years, but this one is up there:

I just saw Erin Burnett on Bill Maher and I honestly think Britney Spears could do as well.
Well, at least Erin, Larry Kudlow, Jim Cramer and the rest of CNBC's cast of white dwarfs will not be discussing one thing in detail -- their parent company is not exactly doing well, dragged down by its own faulty financial department, G.E. Capital...

the company’s stock, which had been $17 a share just a couple of months ago, dropped to under $6
But don't worry...GE knows what CNBC is good for and it isn't journalism:
On Thursday morning, the company’s chief financial officer, Keith Sherin, appeared on CNBC, which G.E. conveniently owns, and offered a passionate defense of the company.
And why would his employees challenge him? That would be like disclosing GE's defense industry connections when reporting on the Pentagon budget, which just isn't done.

This will certainly call for more fawning over former GE Chair Jack Welch.
