No bridge that cannot be bullshitted about

So GE & News Corp. negotiated an editorial ceasefire because it was getting too irritating to making a profit in other areas without people yelling and stuff. Stupid proles.

If Walter Cronkite starts spinning any faster they might as well put him vertically so he can be used to get down to the oil. And what the fuck, is it Charley Rose's job to do such negotiations?

And I guess this sort of "editorial compromise" couldn't POSSIBLY be the kind of thing that quells investigations into just how much GE likes a good war as a profit-making opportunity and shit could it?

I suppose the world's worst media critic cannot be bothered to look at the actual ramifications of this any more than he can look into his boss at CNN Jon Klein bending over backwards to keep Lou Dobbs ass deep in race-baiting?

As he often does, Greenwald sums it all up:

There are many reasons why our establishment press exists to do little other than serve the interests of the political and financial establishment and to mindlessly amplify government claims. The virtual disapparance of the line between large corporate interests and journalism (as Richard Wolffe himself noted) is certainly one of the leading factors.
