FDA officials said this week that the salmonella outbreak could have been averted had the agency imposed new safety rules before last month. The rules include biosafety measures, refrigeration standards and testing requirements for young hens as well as older birds.
But somehow all that money seems to buy them out of long-term difficulties from either Party.

Heard last night that this may be the result of some bad antibiotic practices combined with feeding the chickens tainted fish meal (which normally comes from China) that can cause an outbreak of a particular form of salmonella that can cross an egg's membrane barrier, so it's inside the egg, rather than on the shell.
Another report said the family's hog operations had been busted so many times, they were listed with the state as serial offenders.
Funny thing that in the wealthiest country in the world, even with factory farming that supposedly produces cheap food, forty-one million people still can't afford to eat without the aid of food stamps.
Maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere....

Geez, the DeCosters sound shitty enough to be from Philadelphia. Or at least juvenile court judges in Wilkes-Barre.
Number of people shocked: 0. The DeCosters are a blight on the state and have been for far too long. It's to the point where the state is going to have to set up an inspection office on their land with a legal office next door.
