Speaking of Romney's surrogates

Williard was just off campaigning with this guy and proclaiming "God on this and God on that", so what else has Pat Robertson been doing?

Mitt Romney this weekend stumped alongside televangelist Pat Robertson, not minding Robertson’s legacy of incendiary, insensitive, heartless and apocalyptic rhetoric that has gotten him in trouble in the past. Apparently, Robertson’s own CBN has become aware of Robertson’s problematic statements, and may even be editing his controversial claims out of episode archives.

For example, today on the 700 Club’s “Bring It On” segment where viewers ask Robertson questions, one man wondered how he should go about repairing his marriage with a wife who “insults” him and once tried to attack him.

“Well, you could become a Muslim and you could beat her,” Robertson responded. “This man’s got to stand up to her and he can’t let her get away with this stuff,” Robertson continued, “I don’t think we condone wife-beating these days but something has got to be done.”

He later said the woman is a “rebellious child” and pondered if she has psychological problems. Robertson told the viewer that since he “can’t divorce her according to the Scripture, so I say: move to Saudi Arabia.”
God forbid Romney get confronted with this shit.

The whole "American Taliban" moniker is so appropriate -- there is such a kinship between fundamentalists of all types. If you think about it, anyone who starts with the idea that literal and unchanging truth inhabits the pages of one particular book is automatically committed to a set of principles that are reactionary. If the book was written hundreds of years ago, the norms that it contains will be racist, sexist, and antidemocratic.

Man o man. Ya can't beat your wife. Ya can't beat yer children. Lard knows what would happen to ya if you dragged them to the city limits and stoned them to death as the Lard instructed.

These are frustrating times for the Romney (R-Never to Be Revealed Until It's Too Late) base. No wonder they want to take the country back.

let's get back to that seperation of church and state thing in the constitution... you know, the one that is actually read and understood to be a LIVING document, not some "oh but they meant this according to david barton" thing...

no more church schooling, no more creationism is science, no more home schooling or school waivers, no more pronouncements on the number of times someone says god... we're a secular nation and should be proud of it.

and uncle pat can go whistle in the dark with his happy sky buddy and friends without power or companionship.
