Drone on...

It seems like just a couple days ago the Administration was saying we were having unbelievable success in droning all manner of weddings, funerals, and other family gatherings to the point where we'd stop it soon...honest. Oh right, that's because it was just a couple days ago. Since then:
A meeting of President Barack Obama's top security officials on Saturday concluded that intelligence apparently gathered from overseas communications intercepts showed a serious but unspecified threat against Western and US interests. The administration moved to shut the embassies across North Africa and the Middle East as a precaution. Intelligence committee members in Washington who had been briefed on the alert said it was the most serious they had seen for years and repeatedly cited the threat during Sunday's political talk shows as a reason to resist growing calls in Congress for reform of the NSA's sweeping powers.
Of course it was. The "war on terror" has a lifespan greater than any mere mortal so apparently, therefore, must the NSA and drones. [cross-posted at Firedoglake]

The NSA, fighting for its life after the Snowden revelations, has found an imminent terrorist threat.

How convenient. And how expected.

Oh come now, you cynical citizens (or "cynizens" as we here in Foggy Bottom like to call you, that is, if we even existed, which we don't, and stop saying that), when have we ever lied to you?

so timely, could it be to counter the endless Snowden saga, or payback for exposing the web of the NSA/Congress. help take down Greenwald and give these "Whistleblowers" a little taste of what Big Brother is good for.

Don't mess with the NSA or Congress. we've got your number, among other things. lol. after all, Americans are such easy sheeple.

I agree with all the wag-the-dog cynicism. Hope it isn't misplaced.
