Great Post

Yesterday by Glenn Greenwald on Friedman (third tenor in the Barbershop Quartet). This portion in particular was telling:

But tragically, there is nothing unique about Tom Friedman. What drives him is the same mentality that enabled the administration's invasion of Iraq and, so much worse, it is the mentality that is keeping us there and will keep us there for the indefinite future. We stay in Iraq in pursuit of goals we know are fantasies, because to do otherwise requires the geniuses and serious establishment analysts to accept responsibility for what they have done -- and that is, by far, the most feared and despised outcome.

We are more than just prisoners of George Bush II, his Chimperial Heinous. We are also prisoners of an entire pundit class who, in Atrios's words, is still hopeful that under all the disastrous pile of shit is a pony yearning to prove them right.

War continues to be the measuring stick to them of who has a big penis and who doesn't. Even guys like Murtha, Webb and Kerry who actually fought in the shit are emasculated because they deign to call the war the fucking disaster it is when compared to sniveling real-life cowards who hid from military service and then prove their "manhood" by saying somebody else who should die to make them not look bad.

They will not be, but these cover-my-ass please pundits should be mocked during their never ending television appearances -- and then shunned.
