The Age of Black Comedy

It's just one tragi-comedy after another. Fresh off some in the White House's lap saying 'Baker-Hamilton' waited too long, we find the White House delaying its "Plan for an ass-covering plan to blame the Democrats for losing their war" delayed until 2007.

A senior administration official said Mr. Bush had decided over the last two days to prolong the deliberations based on a concern that a pre-Christmas announcement might quickly be overtaken by events. That happened to Mr. Bush in late 2005 after he used a series of speeches to unveil a “Plan for Victory” in Iraq.

“The president knows he’s got only one shot at this speech,” said a senior administration official involved in the debate. “He didn’t want to make half-way announcements.”

How many times have we heard this particular line? That "Mr. Eloquent" is going to give a magical speech that gives us the cure to all his ills -- that as a result of his incredible speech we will have not only some non-defined "victory" but also our own private orgasm machine?

“Look, there is one camp — it is the camp that works for the president,” Mr. Snow said.

Well it is certainly 'camp'.

To steal from Patton Oswald, Bush & Cheney are once again trying to be the 'Dukes of Hazzard' and take the 'General Lee' and jump it right over yet another problem.
