Just a Reminder

Bush can't successfully fight a war the public overwhelmingly supported either.

And not for a surprising reason:

At critical moments in the fight for Afghanistan, the Bush administration diverted scarce intelligence and reconstruction resources to Iraq, including elite C.I.A. teams and Special Forces units involved in the search for terrorists. As sophisticated Predator spy planes rolled off assembly lines in the United States, they were shipped to Iraq, undercutting the search for Taliban and terrorist leaders, according to senior military and intelligence officials.

He is simply the worst President in modern history, there's no real question about it. He is unfathomably below his Republican and Democratic predecessors it is hard to come to grips with. Leading his supporters to think somehow Jesus (or Rove...or Patreaus) is somehow going to pull a rabbit out of a hat when the reality is Bush's policies have left America nothing but a flaming bag of dogshit on the doorstep.

The only debatable point is whether Bush is worse than Buchanan, Pierce or Harding. But when you look at the seeming unalterable course of the American Civil War and that Harding for better or ill didn't really help or harm anything we are truly left with the fact that Bush is the worst ever.

As I've said before, for 225 years or so, whenever there was a major crisis calling for leadership from Washington to Lincoln to FDR we've lucked out. Well, after a long run we've finally crapped out.

Lucky us.
