Yeah, this will do it

Twitterers were aflame last evening with the prospect that Pat Buchanan had finally gone too far:
“Reverend Al, please don’t throw me into that briar patch.”

“Your boy, Barack Obama, caved in… “

“He’s your boy in the ring!”

And it was the pure delight he put on uttering 'briar patch' and 'boy' that made it the whistle so fierce a pack of dobermans were seen outside the MSNBC studios (of course, that just may be Pat's entourage).

But fret not, there's no chance anyone like Pat Buchanan will ever be out of a job, that's something "other" people experience.

There is nothing that Pat Buchanan can do to be fired, suspended, scolded, or even not complimented.

He has stuck up for Hitler; he has stuck up for death camp capos (comparing them to Jesus); he has stuck up for Jim Crow; he has stuck up for Apartheid; he's even most recently stuck up for Nordic spree killers. Yet the paychecks keep getting bigger. How is this new race-baiting going to do him in?

Nope, he'll always be there, in the Eichmann-like glass booth just kept outside the MSNBC studios ready to be set loose at all times of the day. The Buchanity of Evil.

Buchanan continues to amaze. His sole claim to fame, best as I can recall, was being one of Nixon's speechwriters (and one of the dumber and more credulous ones, IIRC), which experience pretty much should have excluded him from polite society forever.

And yet, here he is, forty years later, still yammering on about his pet prejudices, and getting TV time and a check to do it.

He's not a thinker. He's not an elegant orator. He's not witty or entertaining. There's no reason for him to be thrust upon an even marginally sentient public. Maybe he's got pictures of General Sarnoff fucking goats or something. Or General Sarnoff fucking John D. Rockefeller.

NBC has even less reason to keep Buchanan around than they do Luke Russert, but, there they are....

You should expend some of your outrage at these 'liberal'Senators' that vote Yes with the tea-baggers. Buchanan's hot air doesn't affect peoples lives like these cretins votes do.

Good list of Buchanan outrages, but you forgot his piece-of-shit revisionist history book

A moral equivalence between Hitler and Churchill...? If a leftwinger made this claim, the wingnuts would be all over it like flies on shit...

But since it's a reichwing mouthpiece like Buchanan... ***crickets***

I watched the episode last night. It looked to me like the old white Catholic royalist authoritarian was trying to bait the Rev. Why does he keep popping up on MSNBC?

They will never sack him. Buchanan is their access point to that all important StormFront demographic, AKA the Teabaggers.

Buchanan is a Nazi, and teabaggers are stormtroopers, and this country is controlled by them. No reason to wonder why. How then to react effectively to silence this bullyragging posing as free speech?
Anyone have a list of stations who serve this shit with slashes across them their address...like they did to George Tiller, as well as a number of other abortion providers, just in case some crazed liberal places a torch by their door? No one has been tried for providing such places to 'hit'

Sharpton was given this gig on MSNBC just so the race baiting can continue through election season. Do you really think MSNBC was going to let FOX have the monopoly on race baiting right through to the 2012 election? Everyone is just looking for the competitive edge in who will have "THE BEST AND MOST BALANCED ELECTION COVERAGE IN 2012" and after the election Al will be out of a job, but Pat will remain.

And I do hope "my boy", Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox wins this weekend!
