Big reason for the image problem: The “outrageous statements made by errant Republican voices.”The problem is those errant voices are pretty much the majority of prominent Republicans in the House or Senate. To wit:

Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) on Tuesday suggested that the “hormone level created by nature” was to blame for rapes in the military and that all pregnant servicewomen should be investigated to make sure their condition was the result of consensual sex.Yes, oh those women making men all rapey -- it's just nature. I'm sure the younger demographic is wild about that logic.

Kudos on the "tomorrow belongs to me" reference to the melodious singing voices of the Hitler Youth in, I believe, "The Sound of Music". What an incredibly apt comparison; just brilliant!

"Errant Republican voices", like their presidential candidate, former Vice President, former Defense Secretary, Senate Minority Leader, Speaker of the House, House Majority Leader and most popular political radio show host. You know, just minor characters on the fringe.

and yet, they hate the thought of sharia law....
what is it about these men like chamblis who can't read? one visit to the head on any navy base and he'd be forced to read the entirety of the ucmj. it should be updated, yes, but it definately outlines that rape is a courtmartialable offense.
but i guess reading and "morals" and all that actual reality stuff is a bit difficult for republicans in general.
and perhaps that would be why they can't recognize they are all outrageous nuts.
