Nothing like first-hand experience to affect one's perception

I can see a future FoxNews or FoxBusiness "pundit" now..."What does Japan know about affects of the atom anyway?"
Just a day before the 3rd anniversary of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident, national broadcaster NHK released the results of a survey about nuclear power in Japan. The results show that 80% of the respondents are in favor of scrapping some or all of the existing nuclear reactors in the country.
But then again, why should 80% of the public get what they want, Tokyo Electric & Power says it's universally awesome, like some other nearby guy. Why should a minority of 4/5ths get any say in the matter, they are just people! [cross-posted at Firedoglake]

Our glorious future. 100,000 people living in trailers three years after the meltdowns and explosions, unable to determine whether they’ll ever be able to safely go home. Endlessly discussing whether radiation levels of less than 100 millisieverts per year have been conclusively proved to cause greater rates of cancer.

If they slow-walk the problem forever, eventually the victims will all be dead

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe paid a visit to some towns in the Fukushima Prefecture on Saturday to check on the living conditions of residents, most of whom are still displaced. By April 1, residents of Miyakoji District will be able to return home, as the evacuation order is expected to be lifted, the first since the nuclear accident...It'll be safe on April fools day. Seriously, After three years it's ok to go home?I'd never go back.

Honest (Breeder-Reactor) Abe sez, 'we'll simply ship the waste to our fellow fascists in the Ukraine to replenish their nuclear stockpile, post-CCCP!'; per ZerObamanable FucKerry's neo-Nazi Nuland quest for LEBEN$RAUM for a reconstituted Baracksis of EVIL!
