Utterly Incompetent Incoherent

The New York Times Lead Editorial sums up Bush's performance in key areas quite well.

One of the uncommitted voters in the audience sensibly asked President Bush to name three mistakes he'd made in office, and what he had done to remedy the damage. Mr. Bush declined to list even one...Even worse, the president's refusal to come up with even a minor error - apart from saying that he might have made some unspecified appointments that he now regretted - underscores his inability to respond to failure in any way except by insisting over and over again that his original decision was right.

...

Mr. Bush was deeply unpersuasive when asked why he had not permitted the importation of cheaper prescription drugs from Canada. He claimed that the reason was "I want to make sure it cures you and doesn't kill you." Mr. Kerry cleanly retorted that four years ago in a campaign debate, Mr. Bush had said importing medicine from Canada sounded sensible.

And the president was utterly incoherent when asked about whom he might name to the Supreme Court in a second term. His comment about how he didn't want to offend any judges because he wanted "them all voting for me" was a joke - but an unfortunate one, given the fact that the president owes his job to a Supreme Court vote.

On the other hand, my prognostication of Bobo Brooks column today was about as accurate as can be reasonably expected, as a few commenters have pointed out.

It is not about the debate of course, Bobo verbalized that mock column on PBS yesterday. Besides the 15 minutes it takes to get his column written could be better spent covering that bald patch. Instead Bobo's column is the usual smarmy, soft-shoe of lies he always comes out with but on a different topic, one he undoubtedly wrote between snacks. Notice how Bobo talks about Saddam's corruption, while not mentioning, as this blog and several other sources have, the corruption of the United States and those put in Saddam's place in their handing of Iraqi rebuilding funds.

I think I'll send Bobo an email offering to just write his column for him in return for a portion of his NY Times salary. That will give him a extra hour of free time during the week that he can use to go on yet another chat show and make excuses for Bush.
