Bad Day for Lou Dobbs

Too damn bad...

Voters across Virginia chose candidates in state and local elections yesterday not out of anger over illegal immigration but based on party affiliation, a preference for moderation and strong views on such key issues as residential growth and traffic congestion.

With a few notable exceptions, the trend benefited Democrats and not those who campaigned the loudest for tough sanctions against illegal immigrants...

Robert D. Holsworth, a political science professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, called it the "decline of the Republican brand" and credited it with rallying Democratic activists, bringing forward credible Democratic candidates and attracting hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions to Democratic campaigns.

Meanwhile, the major standard bearers of the GOP-Brand nationwide continue to go about the country trying to see who hates Mexicans or Muslims more than they hate the vacant womb -- or whose determined to make Iranian rubble bounce. Ru"9-11"dy Gi"9-11"uli"9-11"an"9-11"i is launching a whole campaign in the South emphasizing how he loves the idea of sticking broom handles up an immigrant's ass.

Determined to campaign themselves into oblivion.

The only counterproductive thing the Democrats can do now is to try to "keep it close" by following the Rahm Emmanuel playbook of never doing anything. You see if Democrats squeek out majorities, then Rahm Emmanuel stays relevant. If they get something accomplished because of large majorities, nobody will need him. My hope for 2008, Rahm becomes as irrelevant as Joe Lieberman.
