What's that, GOOPers?

I can't understand a word you guys are saying... what with that big dildo rammed down your throats.

Oh! Wait! Were you trying to say, "Waterloo"?

No? Oh, wait!

Now I know!

Well, OK, I am happy the bill passed.

But you've sure got to give the Dems credit though, for managing to simultaneously

A) privatize the health care profits and

B) socialize the health care costs.

and still have liberals think it was great.

But sadly, in today's GOP alternate universe, that's about the best we even can hope for.

It would have been nice, since the GOOPers are calling it socialism, if the Dems had actually set up a Canadian/European style system.

But we'll probably have to wait another entire generation for that.

Hmmm, for some odd reason, "Kaiser Health News" seems happy as hell...

I sincerely hope you're right, pansypoo, but I sure wouldn't bet the farm on it.

About the only pleasure I take in the passage of this badly-corrupted bill is that it is making the right-wingers throw up in their mouths.

Now, dammit, didn't the Dems understand that if they could have just passed a good bill, all the wingnutz in Congress would have spontaneously combusted, which would have made the next few years a lot more orderly--and certainly quieter....

insurance lobbyist wrote the bill. why would they destroy their own industry?

But sadly, in today's GOP alternate universe, that's about the best we even can hope for.

republicans had nothing to do with it. democrats took real reform off the table in exchange for future corporate patronage.

The bill is a shit-sandwich, but it put sandwiches on the menu and they weren't there before. This is game-changing (I know res - that's a banned phrase) in that we are no longer talking about if we can do it or should we do it. It's done. From here on out we talk about costs and efficiencies. It's no longer just the evil insurance companies problem when someone is treated poorly, it's the United States Government's problem. And as crooked as many pols are, they don't like to be yelled at by angry constituents. It won't be repealed. It will only be mended. If I had to guess, I would say we end up with a highly regulated insurance system like Germany has. I'll take that any day over our status quo.

this wasn't an insurance regulation bill, this was a consumer regulation bill. there are tougher sanctions on consumers than there are on the industry.

but it is what it is and we'll have to live with it.
