Tasering...it's now for kids you know and who you are aware have speech impediments and who you pull over while they are riding a bike -- surely the most dangerous kind of criminal masterminds.
and their bosses love to buy em cause then it shows their bosses they are spending taxpayer money on nifty stuff, justifying bigger budgets...and on, and on. vox
What I found quite astounding was that nowhere in the account of events could I find any reason for the cop stopping the kid except "to talk to him." If the kid was violating some rule of the road, all that was necessary was to tell him the behavior was dangerous and he could get hurt, or, at the very most, issue him a moving violation citation.
Even if he thought the kid was "being disrespectful," the kid's free speech rights aren't abridged because he's a minor--and the courts have consistently ruled that police cannot treat disrespectful speech as resisting arrest or noncompliance.
It's pretty clear which party escalated this into a major situation and "being disrespectful" wasn't sufficient cause.
Bad training and bad attitude are a bad combination--and I'm not talking about the kid....

Here in Canada, the cops would've probably taken the kid into the cop shop and given him a strip search, just to add that extra little "fuck you" that they are so fond of giving...
Are the cops in the States big strip search fans, too?
Our Supreme Court made a detailed ruling about strip searches in 2001 that the cops completely ignore, and nobody has called them on it over the past ten years.
To the eternal question "Who will police the police?" our cops have answered with a resounding "NOBODY!"

Always remember the cops are not your friend. Treat them accordingly.
