Texas has not done us very many favors over the past fifty years or so, has it?
Between H.L. Hunt, Clint Murchison, the Bushes, Elder and Younger, and to some extent, the crookeder aspects of LBJ, John Tower, Harold Simmons, Rick Perry, and a passel of kooks, creeps and crazies in the woodpile of Texas Republican religious fundamentalism, such as this dickhead Jeffress, James Robison, W.A. Criswell, David Barton, John Hagee and Debbie Riddle, and having been the home team hosting post-WWII America's most notable political assassination, there's not much in Texas to cheer about.
I'm beginning to think the only sane people Texas has produced in that time are Barbara Jordan, Molly Ivins and Jim Hightower, and Anne Richards.
