Things getting Stinky in Kentucky...

"What me worry?"

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Citing potential "evidence of criminal activity," Attorney General Greg Stumbo's investigators have asked to search the office and computer of former state Homeland Security Director Keith Hall.

Hall resigned abruptly on Friday and has not returned calls seeking comment.

On Monday, Assistant Attorney General Scott Crawford-Sutherland asked Lt. Gov. Steve Pence in a letter for permission to conduct a search of Hall's office as part of the investigation into hiring practices of Gov. Ernie Fletcher's administration.

"Pursuant to information gathered during our investigation, we have probable cause to believe that there is evidence of criminal activity contained within Keith Hall's office and the computer devices used by Keith Hall," Crawford-Sutherland wrote in the letter, which was obtained by The Courier-Journal.

After requesting permission for a search, the letter added, "If you prefer that we obtain a search warrant for same, please advise."
