A Monster

There is simply no other way to put it, Richard Cheney, Vice-President of the United States and by implication the President of the United States George Walker Bush (aka the Chimperor Disgustus) are war criminals.

Lawrence Wilkerson, Colin Powell's Chief of Staff, was on NPR according to Political Wire and asserted:

Vice President Dick Cheney's office was responsible for issuing the directives which led to U.S. soldiers to abuse prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a NPR interview with Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Wilkerson says he traced a trail of memos authorizing the questionable practices through Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's office directly to Cheney's vice presidential staff.

Wilkerson paraphrased the directions given to U.S. soldiers: "We're not getting enough good intelligence and you need to get that evidence, and, oh, by the way, here's some ways you probably can get it. And even some of the ways that they detailed were not in accordance with the spirit of the Geneva Conventions and the law of war."

Such actions, authorizing torture are illegal under the domestic laws of the United States as well as International Treaties to which the United States is a member.

Cheney, with a long career in high level office was no doubt aware of, and advised of this. Certainly the President of the United States was informed as well.

Nevertheless, they broke the most basic of human rights, the right to not be tortured.

The have, by their actions made the United States a criminal nation -- running a series of "gulags" throughout the world where these acts occur.

If this is true they will go down as greater monsters than any American Political Leader. Greater than Bilbo; greater than Jefferson Davis.

Monsters.

According to Zogby if it is demonstrated that George Bush & Cheney misled the country into war in Iraq the majority of the public believes they should be impeached.

According to ABC, the majority of the People feel they were misled the country about the War.

The clock is ticking.

Bush is a cornered animal. He may not finish his term.

You didn't see it here first.
