Three Generations (of Republicans) are Enough

It's true that Buck v. Bell¹ was not Oliver Wendell Holmes' finest hour, nor is this driftglass'; but it still made me giggle and admire the latter's Photoshop technique.

More seriously, watching the PBS Supreme Court program² this week, we're reminded that Carrie Buck was not sterilized³ because she was "feeble-minded," but rather because she was an eighteen year-old female who was poor, unmarried, and pregnant (as the result of a rape, no less). Oh, and that the Virginia compulsory sterilization law under which Buck was violated was not repealed until 1974.
