Building nuclear plants on the sea coast in the area where Japan has had well-known historical Tsunamis (which is really any area on the east coast of Japan) before must be in the Japanese equivalent of the Tea Party.

Now apparently at least three reactors are uncontrolled. The fuel rods in one and probably two reactors have at least partially melted down. This won't get any better for some time, and will very likely get worse.
Never trust an engineer to give you a straight story about a failure in their technology -- they've spent their entire working lives drinking the Kool-Aid. They don't see themselves as lying -- they simply can't process failure.
Seriously, it's time to stock up on potassium iodide (KI), or kelp supplements, available at just about any health foods store or well-stocked pharmacy without a prescription. With prevailing wind patterns, you might be wishing you'd started taking them today sometime next week.
You and especially your kids will need a couple of days of taking the supplements before your thyroid is saturated with iodine, and won't absorb any more.
And if things do get bad, share some out with your neighbors. You won't need more than a couple of weeks worth.

on the bright side, i bet unemployment w/ be nil and will be spending a lot to rebuild.
What a loser the Japanese Prime Minister is. He was out surveying the destruction when obviously he should be on vacation.
in texass.

In all fairness, I don't know where in Japan you could build a reactor where it wasn't in some sort of danger zone.
