One for each chamber

America, 2013:

On Friday afternoon, an Iowa gun dealer closed out the week by becoming the sixth person shot at a gun show. The man claims he was “showing off a .25 caliber pistol he thought was unloaded when he slid the action of the gun.” The gun was not unloaded, and a bullet went through his left palm.

After this incident, police found a second loaded weapon on the wounded gun dealer’s table.

Somewhere in America, every day is Bullet Appreciation Day.

Here in the area of Canada where I live, about 25 years ago there was a story in the local newspaper about a late cop who had been the gun teacher at the local cop shooting range.

On his last day on the job, he was teaching his class of rookies about unsafe gun practices.

"Never twirl your pistol around your finger wild-west style, like this!"

Those were the guy's last words, and I'd be willing to bet that all the cops in the class remembered his good advice for a long, long time.

I suggest a background check AND an IQ test before giving permits! And for Congress an IQ test and a test on American History!

More proof -- as if it were needed -- that more guns will make us more saferer.

I loved seeing one ad from the NRA, talking about how safe hunting weapons were. The illustration? A snubby revolver, with a hammer shroud. Perfect for hunting, right? See, for instance, http://stateofmind13.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/nguyen-ngoc-loan-shoots-a-young-man-to-be-a-viet-cong-soldier.jpg
