Hey look "real" good faith everybody

Congressional Republicans, proudly as incurious as Bill O'Reilly:
President Obama took 12 Senate Republicans to dinner last night -- the president reportedly paid for the evening out of his own pocket -- in the hopes that some schmoozing might ease the gridlock that has paralyzed much of Washington. By all accounts, the gathering went quite well, but there was one paragraph in one report that stood out for me. From NBC's First Read:
[O]ne senator told us that he learned, for the first time, the actual cuts that the president has put on the table. Leadership hadn't shared that list with them before.
That, my friends, is amazing.

Not that surprising, unfortunately. The sheer lack of basic competence seems to be a feature for more than a few of them. A while back I remember reading something about a conservative Nevada business group/lobby's dealing with Harry Reid and then-Senator John Ensign. Reid and his staff were well briefed on whatever the issue was; Ensign and his staff didn't have a clue.

But...the group continued to promote and support Republicans. Jeez. It's like alcoholics or serial arsonists. They just can't help themselves.

intellectually flacid, like the bush baby... incurious and easily led by their fears and their prejudices. believe what the hatemongers tell em and not do any research or actually read anything to truly help your constituents. education is not important you know cause the bible tells ya all you need to know...

and this is the world they wish us all to live in... their little fortress of moronitude!

gah!

The Repuke mindset:
My ignorance is superior to your knowledge.

I'm amazed that a Senator, who has a sizable staff BTW, is too lazy to fucking find out for himself. That's Rethug message discipline in a sound bite. Don't worry about it, a lobbyist will tell you what you need to know.

But that didn't stop him from going on Meet the Press, or Fox, or any of the Sunday bobble-head shows and bitch about what he didn't know, did it?
