And America's paralysis of all things involving Israel ensues.
It's easy to criticize Hamas and Hizbollah, they deserve a hell of a lot of criticism -- taking advantage of misery and oppression by encouraging tragedy.
But if this was another sovereign nation invading yet another one, I think it is safe to say we'd be apoplectic.
But it is Israel, which means any criticism of "This seems a little over the top" will automatically mean this sort of response:
"You fucking Anti-Semitic, Daily Kos reading, Ned Lamont supporting liberal, America-Hating, porn-watching, abortion performing, non-troop loving Scumbag!"
I've counted less than half of those things are true.
So it sort of creates a bit of a difficulty having a dialogue about criticizing Isreal's foreign policy and military action -- and whether it is effective.
I certainly see the logic of the "we don't take any bullshit" form of diplomacy, but at some point -- oh maybe say 24 years ago -- it should have been pretty clear that all the tit-for-tat shit accomplishes is more fucking killing. Of course, this same logic applies to Hamas and Hizbollah as well (and the United States).
