History shows that the Republican Party has always been more supportive of the rights of Blacks, for instance. The Republicans are, after all, the party of Lincoln and the party most supportive of Civil Rights legislation. Also of note is the support of the Democratic Party re the Jim Crow laws and the high profile of (former) Robert Byrd (D-kkk) within that party.
what you fail to realize (probably as the only way to maintain what's left of your sanity) OnA is that the only thing today's Republican party shares with the Republican party that Lincoln identified with is the actual NAME of the party, the ideology and who is welcome in it have all changed, because when it comes down to it if Lincoln were alive today he wouldn't want to be part of the Republican party, and further wouldn't be welcome in it by those claiming to be Republican.
It's very noticeable that you failed to address much more recent history than Lincoln. Such as the Jim Crow laws and the Republican support of Civil Rights Act vs the Democratic Party opposition. (1860s to 1960s) And Robert Byrd and his use of the N word long after he supposedly renounced his klan background. (2001)
