What is this election about?

For many folks, the election is between multinational globalists vs unilateralists or is it to be controlled by America. Kerry represents a kinder, gentler globalization, little changed from Ws, but not as harsh, strident, alienating of other countries, and surely not pushing a last days theological fascist agenda. Something to be said for small favors.

So while abortion rights might be preserved, third world women will still die of poverty, childbirth, etc. So as many folks may ask, why support one group of against another.

Some folks argue that the Supremes will have perhaps three new appointments... but imagine Clarence Thomas as Chief Justice. How will he rule on porn, esp Long Dong Silver, his fave? Also there will be hundreds of other judges appointed to the judiciary deciding civil rights, labor arbitration, intellectuall property, immigration, evidence, racial profiling, etc. Some think that the less heralded judiciary is the more important issue. An idea that Reagan well understood and we are all dealing with the consequences of that realization today.

Next chief of the Supreme Court might be Thomas, biographer says

WASHINGTON - Clarence Thomas has been interviewed by White House lawyers as a possible choice to be the next chief justice of the United States, says the author of a new biography. Thomas says he isn't interested but could find it hard to turn down an opportunity to be the first black man to lead the Supreme Court, said biographer Ken Foskett.
