Selling our Rights for Cheap

Snarlin' Arlen Specter is requiring the NFL Commissioner to come forth today on "Spygate" -- truly one of the most asinine actions in a history of asinine actions.

This pretty much sums up the capitulation of the Senate and how the Bill of Rights ranks in the scheme of things, from John Cole:

There is a very real and perverse possibility that the NFL will face tougher sanctions for spying on practice squads and covering it up than the telecoms and this President will face for spying on the citizenry and lying about it.

Atrios' reader Penguin says any legislative action would without irony be known as "The Patriots Act".
