Castro sort of retires

At the age of 81 in one of histories great anti-climaxes.

Of course, he's being replaced by his younger brother Jeb, Neal, Marvin, Tagg, George III, Raul. Raul's a spritely 76! You may be able to soon start referring to Raul as "Chernenko".

Raul is generally believed to be a bit more practical, pragmatic and less dogmatic than his brother. And also substantially less charismatic. And, of course, old -- older than McCain. If McCain gets elected President somehow, he and Raul can waive their replaced hip-joints at each other. Maybe they could settle things in match-play -- Raul will be the one that blends into the fairway.

I'm sure Cuban emigres all over South Florida will be out half-heartedly waiving their Cuban flags with Gloria Estefan's picture on them this evening and cursing the undoubtedly oppressive dictatorship that still managed to export physicians throughout Central America.
