Meanwhile, in other actual news

Uh-Oh:

Turkish troops have launched a ground incursion across the border into Iraq in pursuit of separatist Kurdish rebels, the military said Friday — a move that dramatically escalates Turkey's conflict with the militants.

10,000 of them. Not good.

At least there is some good news, in a way:

Powerful Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr extended his Mehdi Army militia ceasefire by around six months on Friday, according to a statement read out on his behalf in a mosque in Baghdad.

But ultimately, this good news reflects the real failure of America's blow shit up and it'll work out alright in the end policy.

Five years, nearly 4,000 Americans and tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of Iraqi dead -- and who knows how many wounded; $600 billion spent and $12 billion a month more down the shitter constantly; our international reputation in tatters; Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib; waterboarding; Osama still walking the earth, etc.

And the whole operation is dependent on the whims of ONE GUY, who four years ago we were trying to arrest and/or kill.

If you want to see a winner out of this whole debacle, it isn't any American, it's Moqtada al-Sadr, now the so important he is flippin' untouchable and completely necessary to our policy in Iraq. And he also hates our fucking guts.

Nice.
