It's almost malevolent now
I have a kindle (in its $139 form) and it's great, but it is really starting to appear that Amazon is simply trying to put all bookstores, not just its major competitors, out of business.
Angst-filled missives on the fate of American Democracy -- half-hearted or completely botched attempts at humor and constant, unadulterated whining!

Doesn't work good with (free, photocopy-style) .pdfs and .djvus, does it? Gotta convert, no zoom and pan?
I gotta wait then.
Until I get some guareentee that I will not wake up some morning and discover that Amazon had deleted books that I had bought from them - http://ulyssesonline.com/2009/07/18/amazon-can-reclaim-your-book/ - If I remember correctly they did this in 2009 with a copy of, appropiately enough, of George Orwell's 1984.
good thing i have enough books for the rest of my life.
Don't need no stinking batteries to read a book.
