Behold

The internet.

Here's a nice little story of a deaf man who encounters the President of the United States, uses sign language to say something nice and is pleasantly surprised the President uses sign language reply to say "thank you".

How much did that little gesture mean to a deaf person?  A lot of course.  It was a nice little moment whether the deaf person or President are Republican, Democrat, or whatever.

Naturally, in the comments this becomes a vast conspiracy about how the President is an asshole.

Good for Obama and the student - very touching.

I waded though the first few comments that were mostly positive. I just didn't have the heart to go further and run the risk of encountering the movement-conservative, right-wing, Teavangelical, general dumbshit pig vomit they inevitably emit as a knee-jerk hate blather.
