A classified war simulation exercise held this month to assess the American military’s capabilities to respond to an Israeli attack on Iran forecast that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave hundreds of Americans dead, according to American officials.John Bolton demands to know what the downside is?
The initial Israeli attack was assessed to have set back the Iranian nuclear program by roughly a year, and the subsequent American strikes did not slow the Iranian nuclear program by more than an additional two years. And all this for only several tens of billions of dollars, thousands of dead and $7 a gallon gas.

Exxon Mobil and BP would just love a good war in the Gulf. We’re paying a war premium called “market uncertainty” of around $0.80 per gallon right now. $7 per gallon once the missiles start flying is really optimistic.
