Lovely people

Just lovely,

For the first time since 1994, the Violence Against Women Act does not exist, because House Republicans didn't want the bill to protect immigrants, the LGBT community, and Native Americans — groups added to the bill by the Senate in April — so, after some futile attempts at compromise, they decided they'd rather let the law expire than protect millions of women who desperately need those resources.

For the life of me, I can't fathom why this law was written with an expiration date. It must have been written that way to appease the right wing back in 1994.

Fuckers have been diddling with the government for thirty years and, sadly, the Dems have let them.

Given the proclivities of the rethuglican party, did you really expect anything else?

I have one family member who insists that if we just give them time, the rethugs will eventually do the right thing, to which I reply we've been waiting since Tricky Dick for them to do the right thing... and we're still waiting.
