What's a little liberty for sale?

First off, Happy Independence Day. Second, look at the kind of folks that get a lot more freedom than you...and "easy pass" citizenship to boot.
ExaroNews a British investigative web site, has just published the full transcript of a secretly recorded meeting between media mogul Rupert Murdoch and the staff of The Sun, a U.K. tabloid owned by News Corp., in which Murdoch admitted that he was aware for decades that journalists from his newspapers had been bribing both police and public officials.
But I'm sure his hands are completely clean in this country.

God bless our United States of America. Union forever!

(Bit of a medical problem, carry on.)

The world is in sad shape when the only thing we can do is wait for evil people to die of old age.

(See Cheney, Rove, Murdoch, Limbaugh, Palin, etc.)

But occasionally they leave prematurely.

(See Qaddafi, Hussein, Ceausescu, etc.)

Don't know why anyone's surprised by this. Murdoch was always a sleazy tabloid publisher. He practically singlehandedly melded tabloid sleaze and current events together.

What continues to mystify me is why the government was so friggin' eager to bring him to this country. It's as if someone in the Clinton White House said, "y'know, what this country really needs is the newspaper and television publishing equivalent of a fuckin' ultra right-wing goofball like H.L. Hunt."
