Now that I've seen it

I actually saw 'The 300' this weekend...

I now realize that "The 300" is the very definition of war as pornography. It's a stylized snuff film clad in sepia hues.

One set of strippers wearing only leather thongs and red capes, battles another symbolized by a stripper clad only in a gold thong.

I felt like the audience was supposed to throw dollar bills at the screen.

It is also clearly "White Guys" vs. "Non-White Guys" as an especially creepy bonus.

And seriously, this is Xerxes, he wasn't a giant gay porn actor, though he was blinged out.

In short it meets all of the right-wing's sociopathic, warmongering, non-participatory, homoerotic needs. Tom DeLay no doubt gave it all two of his inches. You'd think the death of 300 of Chippendales' best torsos for "their freedom" would give the Free Republic types some sensitivity to gay marriage issues, but thankfullness to actual service has never been a strong suit.
