Legacy Bush against Legacies

Bush -- the legacy from Yale -- is apparently against legacies. Of course, there is this ubiquitous statement among critics of affirmative action such as Mr. Preznit that entrance into college should be based on merit. But I have to ask, how are we going to define merit? What does merit mean to a kid from a school that does not even have indoor plumbing? What is that kid supposed to think about how little they are valued?

Where is this travesty occuring? Some far flung Asian country? The Middle east? Iraq? Try Ohio. That's right the so-called "heart of it all" state (ignore the lame slogan) has some school districts that are so poor that they lack basic services and indoor plumbing. I wonder if any of those kids have to worry about the problem of legacies?

Do as I say not as I try to do.
