We're Safer...BE AFRAID...We're Safer...BE AFRAID...We're Safer...BE AFRAID

What's that? Democratic Convention go well, Kerry gave a good speech, has bigger crowds...much bigger crowds at his rallies? Kerry's up in the polls (and sorry Newsweek, reading your story makes it clear that Kerry got a sizeable bump from his speech on THURSDAY, read the damned article folks).

How do we handle such matters? What can we do to stem the tide? Sayeth the Kerry/Cheney 2004 crew?

Why use fear, our time tested weapon, which we use weekly. And why not rely on our usual dupes like Kelli Arena.

Karl Rove gives it the thumbs up. Engage.

New intelligence indicates al Qaeda is threatening to attack corporate and financial institutions in New York City, a federal law enforcement official has told CNN.

The official said on Saturday the information suggests "there is a new plan in the works."

There are no details on possible methods of attack, and authorities are aware of no specific time frame.

Although the information has not been corroborated, its source is considered credible, the official said.

...No details...
...No specific time frame...
...Not corroborated...

Let's make sure we release this to keep the lede as Official: Al Qaeda intends to strike in New York.

Not to be too big a tin-foil hatter, but considering the source, the lack of specificity and the timing. This smells of regurgitated fear mongering to try to preserve the Chimp.

Is Al Qaeda trying to his New York again? You bet, but just as much now as before, no more, no less. But let's leak it now. It might deter a few protesters from coming to New York (and you KNOW they are coming); it will pre-occupy the press from covering protesters; and it will make Chimpy McFlightsuit seem all brave by risking his person by giving his acceptance speech in Madison Square Garden on September 2nd [known at the time as THE SAFEST PLACE ON EARTH].

Fear is ALL they've got.

And as a Democrat, all I need do is remember FDR's Maxim,

"All we have to Fear, is Fear itself."
