Hands In The Cookie Jar

Today on This Week with George Stephanopolous Jane Harman doesn't want to admit that warrantless wiretapping of citizens does not violate the law (she said of John Kerry's objections: he hasn't been briefed on the program). Now they're just talking about changing the law so that the conduct doesn't violate the law.

Which got me thinking, why didn't we just enact a statute a few years back saying that the President has a right to get blowjobs from interns and then lie about it to family and under oath without fear of penalty. See, I think they are on to something. Laws don't matter. Just do what you want, if it violates the law, we'll just expand it at the margins so that the government can have more power. As if FISA didn't give them enough in the first place.

Harman's problem, as one of the eight people briefed on the program is that she has her hands caught. She and the others should be ashamed. Pardon me if I don't trust any of them to do the right thing.
