Ratzi's Ratzi

Grasping irreality by both cheeks:

SANTIAGO, Chile — The Vatican's second-highest authority says the sex scandals haunting the Roman Catholic Church are linked to homosexuality and not celibacy among priests.

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican's secretary of state, made the comments during a news conference Monday in Chile, where one of the church's highest-profile pedophile cases involves a priest having sex with young girls.

One of the girls, identified as Paula, said that she and the priest started to have sex when she was 16 and that it lasted until she was 20.

She told the Chilean newspaper La Nacion: "I thought it wasn't that bad to have sex with him because when I told priests about it at confession they just told me to pray and that was it. They knew, and some of them guessed that it was Father Tato. But everyone looked the other way. No one corrected or helped me."

If only Paula had been a blastocyst--- THEN the Catholic Church would've given a shit.

But actual real, live children and adolescents--- not so much.

Remember when these rightwing assholes used to accuse leftwingers of Moral Relativism?

The Catholic Church in it's quest to buff up it's image has started running ads by the group CatholicsComeHome.org...

I'm starting to wonder if it's more about getting fresh meat for PedoPriests, than it is about "image reform"...

This was reported BBC:

Seems couple of lads are thinking to put the kibosh on Ratzinger's coming trip. To think the Roman Vicar isn't above the law, what next, kings? This will stir up those dormant diplomatic juices in the foreign office.

It would not surprise me if there isn't white smoke at St. Peters before the year is out. Popes go to hell for lying as well.

Ah, well, by now, the last thing I expect from the church hierarchy is an honest accounting and an acceptance of responsibility. They have an endless supply of scapegoats, which they will steadfastly use to deflect attention from themselves.

That's always been, and always will be, their default position.

Frankly, it's up to the authorities to apply the laws relating to accessories and conspiracy and put a few of them in jail. Sure, they'd scream persecution, but, good judges ought to be able to make clear distinctions between persecution and legitimate prosecution.
