Journalism Schmournalism

Via Digby and Jane some great stuff on the whole journalist versus blogger hub-bub. The middling triumvirate doesn't pretend to be a journalistic enterprise though we so like our role as snarkers, commenters, and the occasional poke-in-the-eye. While there are exceptions to the rule, the MSM has much to be ashamed of about how it has behaved during both Clinton and BushII. If being a journalist means having to present a biased viewpoint not based in any fact whatsoever (e.g. the swiftboat fiasco, not to mention Whitewater, WMD, Kenneth Starr, GWB's military record, Rathergate, and on and on) to "balance" the story, I wouldn't want to be a journalist. There are more talented bloggers putting the meat on the bones of the stories far better than the MSM. That said, I'm hoping for a comeback of epic proportions. Let's hope we see some great journalism in '06 and that it starts with making Bush, Frist, Delay, and others feel some major heat. If we do start to see some life in the MSM that could be a sign, a very good sign of the endtimes of the rule of King George.
