Oh boy

Not only is it Opening Day (as opposed to last night -- night openings in baseball are just wrong) but it's the day that "Mid-Major Duke" plays "Duke" in a game that just screams for a giant meteor to hit Indy.

And there there's the Tiger Woods press conference (bring on the giant meteors!). If I were present, I'd ask only two questions. First, for Tiger to go over his scores, shot-by-shot; and second, pledge that there was NO VIDEOTAPING.

As you can imagine, Bulldog fever has swept Indiana (BTW - can we ban "[blank] fever?"). Of course when your team sucks as bad as the Hoosiers did this year (and last) you'll look for any port in a storm.

Now that Opening Day has arrived, as far as I'm concerned, all lesser sports cease to exist. Soccer is year-round, of course, so that's ok. But this college-hoop-shooting stuff; who cares? Actually, I pretty much give up on the various other ball-tossing activities as soon as pitchers and catchers report to Florida and Arizona. But again, I'm weird that way.

I'm with you, Major Woody. I've been a Yankee fan all my life, through thick and thin. If anyone doesn't like it, bite me.

I'm from Massachusetts, Athenawise, and so a fan of the good guys. Guess I have to bite you then.
