Mystery Science Williard 3000

I had forgotten all about this little nugget from the last election cycle:
What books did Romney claim as his favorites? The Bible is his favorite book. His favorite novel is Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard, the science-fiction writer and Scientology founder. The first we would have expected, but the second is so wacky, it breathes new life into the tired old reporter's trope: There must be something we can learn about Romney by examining this answer.
The only positive thing I can say about Battlefield Earth the novel is it is better than the movie.

Oh, and it is better than Atlas Shrugged. That is about it.

Well, well, well. In 2012, I believe that we express this as, "...unzipping him to 'let the real Mitt Romney out.'"

Back to the feature film.

And Romney, like "Battlefield Earth", uses contrived situations, story lines from the 50's and shares the same stilted speech.

Awkward, also.

I suspect the Rmoneybot said that because he saw the movie, and therefore figured he could get away with saying he read the book without actually doing so.

One of the most difficult things the political press has had to grapple with is the strong likelihood that the Rmoneybot is even more boring than it appears to be.
