Is Anyone Surprised?

From Mazzetti at the New York Times, the bipartisan 9/11 panel study finds that the C.I.A. withheld the tapes of "interrogations."

The commission's chairmen said they believed the C.I.A. had made a conscious decision to impede repeated and detailed inquiries about interrogations.

At what point do we scuttle ye olde idea that these "security experts" are trying to protect us? So, who are they trying to protect at this point?
